Antelope Chairs, Ernest Race, Race Furniture, 1951

A pair of original Antelope chairs, by Ernest Race – originally designed for The Festival of Britain.

The chair was also awarded the Silver Medal at the Triennial in Milan in 1954.

Cold bent steel rod, moulded plywood seat, and brass feet.

This set have been sympathetically restored – resprayed in white, and seat painted black. The age of the chairs is still obvious, even with the new stainless bolts.

One or two of the rods on the backrests may have minor kinks, but all are structurally sound and ready to use.
